Police probe into Indian boy's death in Saudi

Saudi police has launched an investigation into the death of an Indian boy, who was found seriously injured near his home in Dammam in Saudi Arabia and died on Sunday.

12-year-old Nihal Basheer, son of social activist Najeem Basheer and Shamna, was found by his parents on Saturday adjacent to a building in the neighbourhood with his feet severed. Nihal, a 7th standard student of International Indian School in Dammam, had left his home at 9am on Saturday to take part in the parents' meet at his school.

Najeem Basheer and Shamna, who left house after Nihal to attend the meeting, spotted their son with injuries and rushed him to the Almana General Hospital in the vicinity.

CCTV footage from a camera showed Nihal entering the building adjacent to which he was found lying injured. However, the clips did not show what happened after that.

Police have launched a probe into the incident. Nihal has two siblings and the family hails from Karunagappally in Kollam, from the south Indian state of Kerala.
