Saudi Arabia launches region's first porn de-addiction programme

Saudi Arabia has launched the GCC’s first-ever porn addiction treatment programme which aims to treat people within 100 days.
The new programme would include counselling, a Ten Steps recovery system and will be open to men and women.
Treatment is based on three key pillars: Cognitive behavioural therapy, spiritual therapy, and a safe supportive environment.
The porn programme will explain the damaging effects of pornography and will also use Islamic teachings during the recovery process.
The porn programme will also feature gifts and prizes as incentives along the journey. And there will be weekly support meetings offering assistance and success stories from those who have previously beaten a pornography addiction.

Saud Al-Hassani, director of the program, said “pornography is a problem that affects human values, psychological health, productivity and giving, as the damages of pornography relate to social, health, psychological and societal aspects, such as harassment and violence.”
