The idea of making jewellery from breast milk may seem weird, but a woman from London made it possible. Safiyya Riyadh, a mother of three, and her husband Adam Riyadh run a company named Magenta Flowers.

It preserves special occasion flowers and turns them into precious keepsakes. The company started its operations in 2019. It has delivered around 4,000 orders.

The company has now expanded its business into breast milk jewellery. A turnover of 1.5 million pounds is reported projected by the company in 2023. The couple hails from Bexley, London. Safiyya and her husband read an article about breast milk being used to make jewellery during the COVID-19 lockdown. They then incorporated the idea into their work, reported The Mirror.

The demand for breast milk jewellery is increasing. The couple is working with mothers and is helping them in preserving their breast milk by converting it into precious stones to “memorialise their breastfeeding journey."

"It provides a sentimental connection between mothers and their babies and celebrates that cherished bond," reported the media house quoting Safiyya as saying. Customers need to provide at least 30 ml of milk to get it preserved into valuable gems.

The company researched a lot to find out the formula for preserving breast milk into precious stones. It ensured that milk retains its original colour. As per reports, Safiyya found a technical process of dehydrating the liquid and then combining it with high-quality non-yellowing resin so that the jewellery remains clear for a long time. The breast milk jewellery includes necklaces, earrings, and rings.
