A big boost for legislative ties

Council of Representatives Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal has affirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Bahrain Parliament and the US Congress to benefit both countries and their people.

The Speaker was speaking as she held a meeting with Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC), Senior Member of the House Armed Services Committee. Wilson noted his efforts to support finding a joint work between the US Congress and the Council of Representatives, and to discuss the formation of a Parliamentary friendship committee.

They reviewed the growing outputs related to economic reforms and the attractive environment Bahrain provides to investors. Zainal stressed the availability of opportunities for trade, economic and industrial cooperation between Bahrain and the US, given the recent launch of the United States Trade Zone (USTZ) in Bahrain, in addition to working to increase returns from the free trade agreement, promoting trade exchange.

The congressman praised the development efforts witnessed by Bahrain and the progress achieved under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, highlighting the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He stressed that Bahrain’s openness to the development since the launch of its reform project two decades ago gives it special features regionally, stressing that the continuation of free electoral practice as a distinct witness to the democratic process.
