Burj Khalifa developer Emaar's CEO detained at Delhi airport, firm responds

Amit Jain, Group Chief Executive of Emaar Properties’ was briefly detained at the Delhi airport on Friday after he landed from Dubai, based on a look-out notice issued against him by Punjab police.
The Dubai-based real estate developer said it is aware of the news report about Jain’s detention. The detention was in relation to an issue pertaining to the company’s work in India, it acknowledged.
“Emar is aware of reports regarding the Group CEO Amit Jain, over an issue relating to the company's work in India. The issue has now been resolved and we have no further comments at this time," the spokesperson added, as per reports.
Jain was let off after as the complainant reached an agreement with the company, reported Economic Times. The detention was made based on a 2019 FIR in which the complainant cited delay in delivery of a plot which was purchased by him from the company.
“Punjab police had written to the immigration authority on June 13 in relation to the FIR registered there. When Jain arrived today, he was detained, and Punjab police was informed,” an airport official told ET.
An Emaar India spokesperson further said that Jain had a brief interaction with the authorities concerned.The spokesperson said, “Jain is not involved in day-to-day management and control of Emaar India affairs”.
Emaar exited its joint venture with MGF Land in 2016 owing to disputes between partners over land agreements.
