The new King had teary eyes when he left a touching note on his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II's coffin. The King wrote, "In loving and devoted memory. Charles R.", and left it on the coffin. He ended the note with "Charles R." in which the "R" stands for King in Latin. The full form of R is Rex, a Latin term denoting a king. King Charles picked the bouquet personally, containing a myrtle cut from a plant used in the bouquet during Queen and Prince Philip's wedding.
At the state funeral, King Charles was sitting in front of the Queen's coffin while holding back tears as "God Save the King" was sung at the closing. Charles III was crowned King immediately after the Queen's death. Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8 after ruling for over 70 years. The coronation will not happen for quite some time, as the UK will be mourning the Queen's death. The Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward, and his wife, Sophie, were also spotted wiping their tears during the funeral. Meghan Markle also got emotional as she wiped her tears. One hundred forty-two members of the navy escorted the Queen's coffin through London streets on a gun carriage.
Prince Charles and his siblings, Prince Edward, Prince Andrew and Princess Anne, marched behind the navy as they followed the casket during the procession. Prince Harry and Prince William walked behind their aunt, uncle and father. The eldest children of Prince William travelled in a car with Kate and Queen Consort Camila. Mourners applauded as they paid their respects to the late Queen. The Queen's coffin was shifted to a hearse, and we saw King Charles III saluting his late mother as she was taken to Windsor Castle. The public threw flowers as the car passed.
