The war that rages in Ukraine heralds the beginning of new world order, regardless of whoever wins it today, said Nabil bin Yaqoob Al-Hamar, Advisor to His Majesty the King for Media Affairs.

The world, Al Hamar said, is witnessing the dawning of a new political era that would change balances and positions. Al-Hamar said this during a symposium held at the Asilah Forum in Morocco on the Arabian Gulf between the East and West. He said that the western world could not drag the Arabs to its side on the battlefield.

“This is a milestone in the course of transformation our Arab region has been witnessing between East and West. The West, he said, exerted undue pressure on Gulf Countries, especially to bring about changes.

“These pressures varied between military, economic, political, media, and even homosexuality. “The West also opened the Arab arena to Iran to wreak havoc and destruction upon it. He said that the region should move quickly amid these transformations in policies shaped by crude interventions in internal affairs under flimsy slogans, which also include attempts to impose religiously, socially, humanly and morally rejected values on the Arab world.

“The collapse of the Soviet Union during the Cold war had led to the United States dominating the world and then imposing its conditions and policies, out of which we Arabs also got our share- especially in the form of Palestine.

“In the meantime, new global powers are emerging in the eastern part, he said, pointing to the rise of China as a global power. “The US is closely watching the rise of China, which exercised self-restraint in the recent Taiwan crisis.

Al Hamer also pointed out that freedom, human rights, democracy, principles, concepts and free media went to waste when the war touched the western world. “However, the most crucial thing in this regard is that the West failed to draw the Arabs to its side.

“This is a very prominent sight of transformation that our region witnessed. “It was not in our interest to enter a party to this war or in the conflict. “Throughout history, the Gulf states have tried to avoid conflicts and polarisation policies and maintained a balanced relationship based on mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.

“If there is a good thing in what was called the Arab spring designed by the Western Countries to destroy the Arabs, it has created new positive transformations in the Arab world. “The Arabs have managed to distance themselves from foreign interference and intensified coordination among themselves to create more harmonious positions.

The Arab Gulf, he said, is leading a diplomatic movement, neither an Eastern one nor a Western one, but one that puts the interests of its people and nation at the fore. “Both the Western and Eastern leaders visited the Gulf recently, confirming the influence of Gulf policies on the world.

“Some countries that were taking a hostile attitude towards the Gulf soon realised that this is not their interest and does not serve its political, economic and security interests. The transformation, the Gulf, witnessed today stems from its own will and is proceeding at a natural and rapid pace, surprising many and exceeding their expectations. “Geographically, the Gulf was known to be between the East and the West. “We are now reinforcing this with an independent and balanced position that strongly rejects attempts to interfere in its internal affairs.

“The Gulf has been known for its benevolent endeavours towards promoting rapprochement, tolerance, convergence, and promotion of a culture of dialogue and coexistence between East and West.

“The latest example is the upcoming visit of the His Holiness Pope Francis to Bahrain on the 3rd of November for a four-day visit following an invitation by the His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
