Iran's suspicious nuclear activities under IAEA's microscope

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)'s Director General Yukiya Amano is scheduled to present his final assessment of the nuclear verification and inspections in Iran on December 15, the UN nuclear watchdog said Wednesday.

The Director General held talks in Tehran on September 20, with Iran's president, vice president and foreign minister on the sticky issues relating to the Iranian nuclear programme, IAEA said in a report to be debated by its Board of Governors next week.

During his stay in Iran, Amano and the IAEA Deputy Director General Tero Varjoranta inspected the Parchin military complex, north Iran, to make sure of suspicious nuclear activities.

They took samples of the site to verify Iran commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the provisional Additional Protocol to its Safeguards Agreement.

The report of the Director General concludes that the IAEA cannot offer credible guarantees that Iranian nuclear activities are as peaceful and civilian as claimed by Iranian officials, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
