The UN Security Council strongly condemned the Houthi militia attack on members of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Bahrain operating within the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, on the southern border of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The attack, which took place last Monday, led to the martyrdom of three members of the Bahrain Defense Force (BDF) and the injury of others. In a statement issued by the Council, they expressed their strong condemnation of the horrific and escalating drone attack attributed to the Houthis.

The attack was deemed a serious threat to the peace process and regional stability, including in Yemen. The Security Council called on the Houthis to cease all terrorist attacks and expressed concern about the targeting of civilian infrastructure in cities along the southern border of Saudi Arabia.

They emphasised the need for a sustainable ceasefire and continued support for efforts towards a political settlement to end the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The Security Council also reiterated their support for UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg in his efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement owned and led by the Yemenis based on agreed-upon terms of reference and relevant Security Council resolutions.
