New RO1 notes to remain legal tender: CBO
The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) on Sunday said that the new commemorative RO1 notes which have been withdrawn due to two errors continue to remain legal tender.
One of the errors is that the Hijri year printed in Arabic was 1427 instead of 1437.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, an official from CBO said that the faulty notes will continue to remain legal tender till they are eventually withdrawn.
Also “new notes with the corrected version will be issued in the coming weeks”.
The commemorative 45th National Day notes are in circulation since November 1. “The overall quantity is ‘small’ compared to the notes already in circulation,” the CBO official said.
